Low serotonin may not be the cause of depression. So, what is?

With new evidence showing that depression is not the result of low serotonin in the brain, this leads to try and understand where symptoms of depression stem from. Is depression a product of our lived experiences, and how we learn to look at ourselves at the work around us? What this study proves is that medication is not the answer, and that it is important to learn coping skills that will help us deal with depressive thoughts and negative self-beliefs.
